# What is the ECTS credit system?

"ECTS" stands for "European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System". **This system is used in European higher education, and aims to promote student mobility between countries by standardising the value of diplomas.** ECTS credits are awarded after passing examinations, projects or other forms of assessment.

To know more about the French educational system, [consult our website](https://www.groupe-esa.com/en/international/etudiants-internationaux-2/lenseignement-superieur-francais/).

In all European countries, 1 University semester = 30 ECTS.

A Bachelor at ESA gives 180 ECTS,
A Master graduate studied at least 300 ECTS.
